Our Story
Founded by Nate Fugitt and Austin Galloway, Thornapple Construction began as a humble handyman business in 2016 and has since flourished into a beacon of remodeling excellence in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Our founders, with over two decades of combined experience, bring their deep passion for innovation and quality craftsmanship to every project.
Nate, a visionary entrepreneur, and Austin, a remodeling expert, both share a common goal: to transform the construction industry into one that focuses more on relationships and less on the bottom line. Nate is the visionary founder of Thornapple Construction, dedicated to transforming the remodeling and construction industry. Based near Grand Rapids, Michigan, his journey began in various construction-related fields, and over 14 years, he has cultivated a passion for innovation in building and remodeling.
With an entrepreneurial spirit, Nate founded a handyman business in 2016, which under his leadership and vision, has flourished into Thornapple Construction, now celebrated for its exceptional craftsmanship and commitment to redefining industry standards.
Beyond the construction sites, Nate is a family man, residing in Grandville, MI, with his wife and three young children. His creativity extends to the kitchen, where he enjoys exploring new recipes and sharing his culinary creations with family and friends, particularly grilling and smoking.
Austin is a seasoned remodeling expert with over a decade of experience in the construction industry. Learning from his father, a lifelong carpenter and entrepreneur, he quickly developed himself in the industry, and ventured out as an independent contractor in 2014.
Fast forward to 2018, he moved to Grand Rapids, where he partnered with Nate Fugitt to create Thornapple Construction. Here, he loves connecting with clients, sharing a laugh, and diving deep into their vision. It’s this blend of expertise, charisma, and down-to-earth attitude that sets him apart.

Contact us. We’re ready to start the conversation! Once we get a rough idea of what you’re looking for (scope), we can give approximate cost and timeline. The goal is for you to see if we are a good fit for your project.
Time for the initial walkthrough, “Meet and Measure”. We’ll take a closer look and discuss the project in more detail. The goal at this stage is to gather information for design and estimating.
Time to talk turkey! We go over the proposal together and finalize the scope and cost. The goal at this stage is to put everything on paper, and make sure everyone is on the same page.
Let’s go shopping! Now that we are under contract, we can plan the remaining details. Here you will select faucets, fixtures, flooring and more! The goal here is to get everything lined up and ready to go before we even start.
We love it when a plan comes together. Sit back and watch our specialists showcase their expertise! Demo, rough ins, inspections oh my! Our goal during production is to manage your expectations and maintain quality control.
Time to move in! Your home is no longer a construction zone, and you have a shiny new finished project. At this stage, we do final touchups, cleaning, and our favorite…AFTER PHOTOS!
After the project is completed, we provide a 2 year workmanship warranty (on top of any manufacturer warranties on products used). Our follow up team will make sure our work stands the test of time.
